The post that should be named "first post", but instead it's this... FWA (first world anarchists)

So I'm not sure how to do this whole blog thing but here goes anyway. It'd be good to start at the beginning and talk randomly about myself for eleventeen pages but you and I would get bored. So I'll just insert random things that are relevant about myself into the stories and thoughts that I conjure up/are revealed to me through this little adventure/experiment.

REAL TITLE: Thanks, Dad, for Teaching me Hard Work

So I'm working over the summer with my buddy, Michael, doing landscaping (mowing yards) for a small business he and his dad run. Long story short we work, on average, 10-14 hours 6 days a week, pretty intense I know. I've gained quite a bit of weight at college, forget freshman 15, try sophomore 30... yeah I hate it but if you're not careful college will do that kind of thing to you. So as you can imagine I struggled with the long hours and rigorous work (though I know my limitations, but we'll get there). This little epiphany came to me (I think the Holy Spirit just puts these little nuggets of truth in my head, that's part of the reason I wanted to start a blog. See, you're learning more about me and I haven't even written over a page, yay for you) while I was edging this sidewalk, just another yard, and I saw these kids, a little younger than me (ok I'm not a kid... wish I was, if you are STAY THAT WAY... if you can but you can't so nevermind... anyway I'm like.... 22.... OLD) playing basketball down the street. Also, the son of the person we did the yard for just got home earlier. So this is a common theme that I see a lot of other places, kids not working... and I thought to myself, "man, these kids are going to have it hard, I mean I don't know them or if they really do work, but God made man for work, Ecclesiastes says that man is to be content in his work. So how can these guys... survive without knowing hard work?" I thought a lot of other stuff but I'll end the quotations, it got a little out of hand there, don't want like a run on quote... hate those so much. Another thought I had was that my dad had taught me what hard work was, and he did a darn good job too. I remember working on the house, mowing the yard, clearing a creek bed, raking leaves, plumbing, changing toilets, working on cars, changing siding on the house, installing windows, snow blowing and plowing in MN, I mean the list is almost endless. What does that end up being? A lot of quality (probably unappreciated at the time but appreciated now) time with my dad, leaning a lot of skills, knowing how a lot things work, and, you guessed it, knowing what hard work is. A lot of people in my generation won't know that... they'll miss out on the blessings that come with hard work. I know this was awful scatterbrained but it's at the end of a long day of work so sue me. What are the blessings of hard work? Sheesh, tough question there. Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 (New English Translation). Also I googled it and this page came up, I didn't have time to see if he was using everything in context but I'll let you do that. I will try and answer this question in more detail next time, but don't count on it. Until then I'm going to sleeeeeeeppp

Man is Ignorant of God’s Timing

9 What benefit can a worker gain from his toil?

10 I have observed the burden

that God has given to people to keep them occupied.

11 God has made everything fit beautifully in its appropriate time,

but he has also placed ignorance in the human heart

so that people cannot discover what God has ordained,

from the beginning to the end of their lives.

Enjoy Life in the Present

12 I have concluded that there is nothing better for people

than to be happy and to enjoy

themselves as long as they live,

13 and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things are a gift from God.
